perfect crispy bacon oven recipe - featured image

This easy oven-baked bacon recipe delivers perfectly crispy, evenly cooked bacon slices with minimal mess and fuss. Ideal for busy mornings, brunches, or any occasion, it uses simple ingredients and a foolproof method.

Ingredients

  • Bacon slices (regular cut or thick cut)
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil (for lining the baking sheet)
  • Wire rack (optional but recommended)
  • Black pepper or smoked paprika (optional seasoning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  3. Place a wire rack on top of the lined baking sheet. If you don’t have a wire rack, you can lay the bacon directly on the foil.
  4. Arrange bacon slices in a single layer on the rack or foil, making sure slices do not overlap.
  5. Optionally, sprinkle lightly with black pepper or smoked paprika for added flavor.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, starting to check at 12 minutes for thin bacon and closer to 20 minutes for thick-cut bacon. Bacon should be golden brown and crispy but not burnt.
  7. Check frequently towards the end and add a minute or two if extra crispiness is desired, watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Remove bacon from oven using tongs and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
  9. Let the bacon rest for a minute to crisp up further before serving.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure even cooking. Preheat the oven fully before baking. For extra crispiness, check bacon frequently near the end of cooking. Press bacon gently with tongs if it curls. Fold foil edges to contain grease for easier cleanup. Leftover bacon can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
