This caramel apple sangria with cinnamon whiskey is the perfect fall drink, combining crisp apples, warm cinnamon, and rich caramel for a cozy, crowd-pleasing beverage that’s quick to make and even better when made ahead.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1 cup cinnamon whiskey (e.g., Fireball)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples (or Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady)
  • 1 medium pear (Bosc or Bartlett)
  • 1 cup apple cider (not apple juice)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ice and optional garnishes: extra apple slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, or a drizzle of caramel on the rim

Instructions

  1. Prep your fruit. Wash the apples and pear thoroughly. Core them and slice into thin rounds or half-moons. Place the sliced fruit in your pitcher and squeeze the lemon juice over them immediately, tossing gently to coat.
  2. Make the caramel-whiskey base. In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine the cinnamon whiskey and caramel sauce. Whisk until the caramel is fully dissolved into the whiskey. If your caramel is thick, warm it slightly in the microwave for 10 seconds before adding the whiskey.
  3. Combine the liquids. Pour the caramel-whiskey mixture over the fruit in the pitcher. Add the bottle of white wine and the apple cider. Stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine everything.
  4. Add the aromatics. Drop in the cinnamon sticks and the vanilla extract. Give everything one more gentle stir. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed.
  5. Chill and steep. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but overnight is ideal (8 to 12 hours is the sweet spot).
  6. Serve. Give the sangria a gentle stir. Fill glasses with ice and pour the sangria over it, making sure to include some of the fruit in each glass. Garnish with extra apple slices, a fresh cinnamon stick, or a light drizzle of caramel on the rim if desired.

Notes

Don’t skip the chilling time—the flavors need time to meld. For best results, make the day before serving. If you want to keep leftovers longer than 24 hours, remove the fruit after the first day and add fresh slices when serving. For a non-alcoholic version, skip the wine and whiskey and use extra apple cider plus a splash of ginger ale or sparkling water.
