Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-process preferred)
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup (150g) Nutella
  • 1/2 cup (85g) white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two opposite sides.
  2. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in 30-second intervals until just melted. Let cool for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the granulated sugar to the melted butter and whisk until combined and slightly grainy, about 1 minute.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  5. Sift cocoa powder, flour, and salt over the wet mixture. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined—do not overmix.
  6. Spoon Nutella into the batter and fold with a few broad strokes, leaving visible swirls.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then lift out and cool completely on a wire rack.
  8. Once brownies are completely cool, melt white chocolate chips with coconut oil in a small microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  9. Transfer melted white chocolate to a piping bag or zip-top bag and snip a tiny corner off.
  10. Pipe a small dot of white chocolate in the center of the brownie, then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing about 1 inch apart. Working quickly, drag a toothpick from the center outward through the circles to create a web effect. Wipe toothpick clean between each drag line.
  11. Let white chocolate set for 15-20 minutes at room temperature, or refrigerate for 10 minutes. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Do not overbake—brownies should be slightly underdone in the center for a fudgy texture. Cool brownies completely before adding the web, or the white chocolate will melt. For clean slices, refrigerate for 20 minutes before cutting. Brownies taste even better the next day.
