  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream or coconut whipped cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour 2 cups (480 ml) of your chosen milk into a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat for about 4-5 minutes until warm but not boiling.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 to 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth to form a paste.
  3. Add the cocoa paste to the warm milk and whisk until fully combined and smooth. Whisk gently for about 1 minute to incorporate air and create a creamy texture.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in 1 scoop of collagen peptides, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Whisk briskly to dissolve the collagen completely.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired. If too thick, add a splash more milk and whisk.
  6. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream or coconut whipped cream if desired. Optionally, dust with cocoa or cinnamon.

Notes

Do not add collagen to boiling milk to avoid clumping. Use full-fat or creamy plant-based milk for best texture. Whisk continuously to avoid lumps. For a frothy finish, blend with an immersion blender for 15-20 seconds before serving. Store base in fridge up to 2 days and reheat gently.
