Crispy Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie Bars - featured image

These easy-to-make dessert bars feature a buttery, crispy crust topped with a gooey, caramel-like filling infused with maple syrup and bourbon. They offer a perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and nutty flavors with a texture that is crisp on the edges and tender in the center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups pecan halves, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and melted butter. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  3. Press the crust mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. Blind bake the crust for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together maple syrup, brown sugar, bourbon, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  6. Stir in the toasted pecan halves.
  7. Pour the filling over the pre-baked crust and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are bubbly and the center is set but has a slight jiggle.
  9. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack (1-2 hours) before lifting out and cutting into squares.

Notes

Toast pecans for enhanced flavor. Blind bake the crust to prevent sogginess. Use room temperature eggs to prevent lumps. Bars continue to cook as they cool, so do not overbake. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
