A quick and easy honey soy glazed baked salmon recipe that comes together in under 20 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish features a sticky, sweet-savory glaze that’s balanced and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and grated ginger. Set aside about 2 tablespoons of the glaze for brushing later.
  3. Prepare the salmon: Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Glaze the salmon: Brush or spoon about half of the glaze over the tops of the fillets. Reserve the rest for later.
  5. Bake: Place the salmon in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, depending on thickness. The salmon should be opaque and flake easily with a fork, or reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  6. Broil for caramelization (optional): Switch your oven to broil for the last 1-2 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Glaze again: Remove the salmon from the oven and brush with the reserved fresh glaze. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  8. Rest for 2 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute and glaze to set.

Notes

Don’t over-marinate the salmon; 15 minutes is plenty. Let salmon come to room temperature for 10-15 minutes before cooking for even cooking. Line your pan with parchment for easy cleanup. Watch the broiler closely to avoid burning. Adjust cooking time based on fillet thickness.
