A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring tender salmon fillets and roasted broccoli coated in a sweet-savory honey garlic glaze. Ready in about 25 minutes with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets (about 1 large head)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. If using foil, lightly spray it with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Wash and dry the broccoli head. Cut it into medium-sized florets—about 1-2 inches wide. Toss the florets with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, a pinch of salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Spread them out on one half of the sheet pan.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper. Place the fillets skin-side down on the other half of the sheet pan, leaving a little space between each piece.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  5. Use a basting brush or a spoon to coat the top and sides of each salmon fillet with the sauce. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of the sauce for later.
  6. Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven. Roast for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon fillets. For medium-rare salmon, aim for an internal temperature of 125°F. For well-done, go up to 140°F.
  7. About halfway through cooking (around the 7-minute mark), pull the pan out and brush the salmon with the reserved sauce.
  8. The salmon should flake easily with a fork, and the broccoli should be tender with lightly charred edges. If the broccoli needs a few more minutes but the salmon is done, just remove the salmon to a plate and let the broccoli finish roasting.
  9. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the salmon and broccoli. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry for better caramelization. Don’t overcrowd the pan—use two sheet pans if needed. Let the salmon rest for 1-2 minutes after roasting. For extra sauce, double the glaze ingredients and keep some aside for serving.
