A quick and easy homemade dip combining creamy Greek yogurt with smoky, spicy harissa paste, perfect for snacking on fresh veggies or as a flavorful sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Greek yogurt (full-fat recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons harissa paste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mince the garlic finely and chop the cilantro or parsley if using. Squeeze fresh lemon juice.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add Greek yogurt and harissa paste. Whisk together until the color is uniformly warm red with no streaks.
  3. Stir in fresh lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, and ground cumin. Mix well to combine evenly.
  4. Add minced garlic and salt. Taste and adjust salt or harissa paste for desired heat.
  5. Gently fold in chopped cilantro or parsley for a fresh herbal note.
  6. Optional: Chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes to let flavors meld.
  7. Transfer to a serving bowl and optionally drizzle a little olive oil on top before serving.

Notes

If harissa paste is thick, thin the dip with a teaspoon or two of water or milk. Adjust salt and harissa paste to taste. For vegan version, substitute Greek yogurt with coconut or almond yogurt and use harissa paste without animal products. Chill for best flavor but can be served immediately.
