A thick, dense, and creamy smoothie bowl that tastes like cookie dough but functions as a nutritious meal. This recipe uses frozen fruit and minimal liquid to achieve a texture that holds toppings and keeps you full until lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large banana, sliced and frozen solid
  • ½ cup frozen mixed berries or strawberries
  • 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder
  • ¼ to ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ cup plain, thick Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons granola (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds or hemp hearts (for topping)
  • A small handful of dark chocolate chips (for topping)
  • Extra peanut butter for drizzling (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Ensure bananas are sliced and frozen solid (freeze for at least 4 hours if using fresh).
  2. Add frozen bananas, frozen berries, protein powder, and peanut butter to the blender.
  3. Pour in almond milk and Greek yogurt, starting with the minimum amount (¼ cup).
  4. Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high. Blend until smooth and thick like soft-serve ice cream. Pause to scrape down sides if necessary.
  5. Pour the thick mixture into a deep bowl.
  6. Top with granola, extra peanut butter drizzle, chia seeds, and chocolate chips.
  7. Serve and eat immediately to prevent melting.

Notes

The key to this recipe is using exclusively frozen fruit and minimizing liquid to achieve a thick, scoopable consistency. Do not store the blended smoothie bowl; it melts quickly. You can prep the fruit in freezer bags ahead of time.
