spooky halloween punch - featured image

A theatrical, non-alcoholic Halloween punch featuring a dramatic dry ice fog effect. This simple recipe combines apple, cranberry, and grape juices with ginger ale for a spooky, crowd-pleasing centerpiece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 64 oz Apple Juice (cloudy/unfiltered preferred)
  • 32 oz Cranberry Juice Cocktail
  • 32 oz Grape Juice (Concord preferred)
  • 2 liters Ginger Ale
  • 2 liters Lemon-Lime Soda (optional)
  • 2 large Apples (sliced)
  • 1 cup Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
  • 1 Orange (sliced)
  • 2–3 lbs Dry Ice

Instructions

  1. Chill the apple juice, cranberry juice, and grape juice in the refrigerator beforehand to help the fog last longer.
  2. Pour all three juices into a large glass punch bowl and stir gently to combine.
  3. Slice the apples and orange, then add them to the bowl along with the cranberries.
  4. Right before serving, pour in the ginger ale and lemon-lime soda, stirring very gently to preserve carbonation.
  5. Wearing heavy gloves or using tongs, break the dry ice into grapefruit-sized chunks.
  6. Drop 2-3 chunks of dry ice into the center of the punch bowl using tongs.
  7. Serve immediately, ladling the punch to avoid the dry ice at the bottom.

Notes

Never touch dry ice with bare hands as it causes instant frostbite. Do not let guests, especially children, put their hands in the bowl while dry ice is active. The dry ice evaporates into carbon dioxide gas, which is safe in small amounts but should not be inhaled directly. Store the juice base in the fridge for up to 3 days, but add soda and dry ice only right before serving to maintain fizz and fog.
